ITV Lorraine star quits show after long career as co-star pays tribute

ITV Lorraine star Ross King decided to dedicate a special moment during his Friday segment on the show to share an emotional tribute to one of his colleagues as they quit following a lengthy career.

The TV presenter, who is best-known for his segments on ITV's Lorraine and Good Morning Britain, paused his regular ITV segment as he spoke to co-star Christine Lampard.

The duo discussed the latest news from Hollywood including Harry and Meghan's return to TV as well as updates on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Then after Ross, 62, revealed that Taylor Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelcee's favourite song of hers is Shake it Off as he likes to dance to it, he took the time to announce a TV farewell to his producer.

Ross told viewers on Friday: "Weird dancing but with a little bit of sadness as my wonderful pal and producer Hannah Walker, it's her last day on this show so Hannah, I want to say to you, huge hugs from Hollywood, lots of real love from La La land."

He continued: "You will be missed, but we'll see you again soon enough, and hope to see you again too, take care, lots of love, thanks for everything," and blew a kiss to to the camera.

Christine, who is currently standing in for show veteran presenter Lorraine Kelly over the school half term, replied: "Awww we love that," and thanked Ross for his segment.

Glasgow-born Ross now lives in Los Angeles, and he's seen almost daily in his role as celebrity correspondent for LA on ITV's Good Morning Britain (which he's done since 2014) and the Lorraine Kelly show, Lorraine (since 2001).

Ross celebrated his 60th birthday in February 2022 and he was left feeling emotional after Lorraine Kelly surprised him with some messages from his celebrity pals during his segment on her long-running ITV show.

Lorraine is currently enjoying her third day off this week, partaking in her scheduled break. It's common for the host to take time off during school holidays, leaving the show in the capable hands of stand-ins such as Christine and Ranvir Singh.

In her absence, fans have been vocal about Lorraine's time off air and a Twitter account that has been tracking her show appearances noted that Lorraine has presented just 48 of the 72 episodes this year.

One viewer tweeted: "Surely it's time to re-name the show with this level of attendance." Another added: "#lorraine I wonder what Christine thinks when the rolling credits at the start of the programme showing Lorraine beaming at the camera, are shown."

With the announcement that Lorraine will become a grandmother, another fan speculated: "How many months will we have to endure them talking about #Rosie pregnancy. Well at least she'll have every half term off to babysit #Lorraine."
