Inside Robb Report Hong Kong’s Leaders of Luxury Summit

Nobody can know for sure what the future of luxury holds, but last month Robb Report brought together a host of industry insiders to pontificate on the subject.

The Hong Kong edition of the magazine hosted its very first Leaders of Luxury Summit on November 27, at the five-star Regent Hong Kong. With a dozen spotlights and panel discussions, executives and insiders from the worlds of yachting, private aviation, watches, jewelry, and more discussed where the luxury world is headed.

“Hong Kong has long been recognized as a global hub for luxury, and the Leaders of Luxury Summit marks a significant chapter in the city’s illustrious history,” Tak Man, the publisher and CEO of Robb Report Hong Kong, said in his opening remarks to more than 550 guests. “When we chose the theme—Redefining Luxury Through a Global Lens—we wanted to project forward how Hong Kong will be influenced by industry leaders gathered here today and how the industry will be influenced by those in Hong Kong.”

The day began with a keynote talk by Darshan Mehta, the CEO and president of Reliance Brands Limited. Mehta discussed the importance of India’s luxury market and how the growth of that country’s affluent population will impact the sector in the years to come. Following his talk, the audience heard panel discussions on the intersection of health, AI, and longevity; luxury hotels and travel; and how watch and jewelry brands can capture younger consumers and Gen Z.

Later in the day, after a networking lunch, guests sat down to hear leaders’ thoughts on the synergy between luxury brands and family offices, how auction houses and real-estate developers are appealing to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and brand collaborations. “Collaborations only work if brands correctly project what they stand for and who they want to align with,” said Camille Cheng, a swimmer and Hong Kong Olympian. Meanwhile, there were a host of individual talks as well, from luminaries such as Bentley Motors CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser, Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi, jeweler Nadine Ghosn, Dusit International Vice Chairman Chanin Donavanik, and CEO of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited Sebastian Paredes.

After a long day of learning, both the luxury leaders and the guests celebrated at a black-tie gala dinner, with Champagne and live music courtesy of local talent Jasmine Yen. The menu consisted of plates such as cavatelli, miso-glazed black cod, and panna cotta from the Regent’s Michelin-starred kitchens.

Whether mingling with friends or making new connections, guests ended the night celebrating in true Robb Report style.
