Take a look around author, journalist and content creator Katherine Ormerod's Victorian rented house in Chiswick, as she walks us through her favourite decorating ideas that will make any rental feel completely your own. From applying 420 vinyl tile stickers onto her downstairs bathroom walls, to creating affordable art from embroidered blankets, there's something to inspire renters and non-renters alike.

With 13 previous rentals under her belt, it's safe to say Katherine knows a thing or two about decorating temporary spaces. The once plain kitchen has been transformed into a warm and inviting space, achieved by cutting her own strips of MDF to create Shaker-style fronts and painting them a deep inky blue – all without dismantling a single cupboard. Meanwhile, her bedroom, in a soothing palette of soft pinks and greens, showcases her sewing skills with a reupholstered headboard and handmade bolster cushions and curtains.

Throughout the house, her love of art is on display in every room. From the graphic gallery wall taking centre stage in the dining room, featuring affordable pieces collected from museums and galleries, to more investment pieces such as those by contemporary artist Babak Ganjei, to her collection of swimmers in the kitchen. Even her children's rooms mix prints of Rothko and Albers with playful pieces from Jo Laing and Tatiana Alida.

The final result is a true masterclass in creativity and style, with Katherine's many ideas proving you can add plenty of personality and charm to any space, rented or otherwise.
