'I'm a personal trainer – people can avoid common mistake in gym with one simple tip'

One personal trainer recently revealed a common mistake she often sees when she's at the gym. Kelsey Wells, a fitness guru from the US, boasts 3.1million followers on Instagram where she shares her nutrition tips and workouts.

And now in a recent clip, she revealed the blunder she often spots. She said in the video: "As a professional fitness trainer, 90% of mistakes I see people making in a public gym would be fixed with this one form tip: Slow down."

She also accompanied the advice with a caption. Kelsey added: "All my bada** lifting babes listen up: BOTH the eccentric (lowering) and concentric (lifting) phases should be slow and controlled for maximum benefit – especially in strength training!

"Eccentric phase (when you're lowering the weight): Slowing down the eccentric part of a lift helps increase time under tension, which can lead to greater muscle growth and strength. It also reduces the risk of injury by ensuring proper control and movement.

"Concentric phase (lifting the weight): While the concentric phase is typically faster than the eccentric, it should STILL be controlled. This ensures you're engaging the muscles effectively without relying on momentum, which can help improve muscle activation and prevent injury.

"Keeping both phases of your movements slow and controlled maximises the effectiveness of your workouts and helps promote muscle growth and stability."

She also concluded when we slow down and focus on form, it can help you think about your "mind-muscle connection and breathing". "So proud of all of you out there training however feels best for YOU, and taking care of your beautiful body and self," she admitted.

Since she shared the post, it garnered a lot of attention from fans. One said: "Such great advice! Focusing on both phases makes a huge difference in control and results."
