Ikea has just revealed its most popular products of 2024, and they all happen to have one thing in common: smart storage and organising solutions for the home.
The Swedish furniture retailer is a go-to for clever, practical, and modular storage solutions to suit the changing dynamics of life at home, and the need for versatile spaces has never been greater.
The popularity of home organisation and storage has been fuelled by rapid urbanisation, smaller living spaces, and a growing preference for organised, functional and visually appealing home storage. Today’s living spaces also perform double duty – for example, a living room or bedroom that also serves as a home office. A well-organised space is clearly high on the agenda for many: in Ikea's Life at Home Report 2023, 40 per cent of people said they felt most content and at ease when their homes are tidy and organised.
So as 2024 comes to a close, Ikea has shared the top three most popular items based on customer searches. Visitors to Ikea.com reached an impressive 4.1 billion this year, a significant increase of 28 per cent compared to 2023, with online sales accounting for 28 per cent of total sales.
'As digital ecosystems continue to evolve, we can expect these trends to expand further—especially in storage and organisation solutions, driven by the popularity of social media hacks and creative ideas for optimising living spaces,' says Parag Parekh, CDO for Ikea Retail (Ingka Group).
