I'd Given Up On Skincare Devices Until This Collagen-Boosting Tool Came Along

The Facial Device That Changed My SkinMatteo Scarpellini/launchmetrics.com/spotlight - LAUNCHMETRICS SPOTLIGHT

Skincare tools can be a divisive topic. There are those of us that swear by them; rotating between our high-tech cleansing brushes and microcurrent gadgets and never failing to miss a nightly LED treatment. And then, there's the rest of us who like the idea of a glowier, more sculpted complexion but who, despite our best efforts, can’t make the habit stick.

I fall into the latter camp. Yet for all the tools I’ve tested only to discover them hidden at the back of my cupboard weeks later, one has stood the test of time. The TheraFace Pro, created by the makers of the much-loved Theragun massage tool, harnesses the same percussive technology to help alleviate tense facial muscles, lift the jawline and boost blood flow to the face. Its real USP, though? It's every single skincare tool you'll ever need in one handy - and seriously high-tech - device.

And they weren’t joking, either. This professional-grade gadget has eight different add-ons and tackles just about single skincare concern, from refining pores to improving acne, boosting collagen production and restoring radiance.

What does the TheraFace PRO do?

The question is really what doesn't it do? There are a ton of different attachments, with additional heat and cryotherapy rings sold separately, all of which clip in magnetically to the handheld (and ergonomic) base. Read: if you avoid tech-y devices for fear of failing to set them up, or being too fiddly to put together, this tool has simplicity down to a tee - with easy-to-follow app videos if you're new to the world of at-home treatments.

The first is LED light therapy. With both red light therapy and red+infrared light (to tackle fine lines and wrinkles) and blue light therapy (to help kill bacteria and alleviate signs of acne and breakouts), you can create a bespoke LED routine depending on your skincare goals.

Then there's the microcurrent ring which stimulates the muscles in the face by using low electrical currents to lift, build and sculpt (if you've seen the TikTok before-and-afters, you'll know). Another facial workout to bring back long lost cheekbones, there are also three separate facial massage attachments, which help relieve jaw tension (jaw clenchers, this one is for you) and boost blood flow.

The secret to its sculpting success lies in the percussive technology which has a precise amplitude to relieve tension in the jaw, neck and face. That goes for tension headaches, puffiness and tight, stress-induced jaws too. So unlike those aesthetically pleasing tools you've invested in and since forgotten, this works deeper and more effectively into the 40-something muscles in your face.

What sets The TheraFace Pro apart?

When it comes to skincare devices, a lot of them overpromise and under deliver. This device is all about science and innovation. It's the reason why, after years of trial and error and one too many gimmicky tools never to be trusted again, it's the only skincare gadget that I'll religiously use.

Even the cleansing brush, which I'd typically use a few times and then revert back to my trusty cloth, makes my skin feel cleaner, and more radiant, but without stripping the skin barrier.

I personally love the additional cold ring too, adding a layer of cryotherapy to my routine to help de-puff my cheeks after a long day in front of my screen. Similarly, there's no device on the market that can help alleviate one of my weekly tension headaches quite like it.

How often should you use the TheraFace Pro?

While there are no strict rules as to how often you should and could use your TheraFace PRO, like everything in life, there is sometimes too much of a good thing.

Dermatologists will tell you that a weekly microcurrent treatment is more than enough and too much toning and lifting could do your dermis a disservice. However, your skin could benefit from more frequent at-home treatments for other skin concerns. For instance, if you have really tight jaw or tension headaches, you might find yourself reaching for it every few days.

So does the TheraFace PRO live up to the hype?

For me, there's so much that puts the TheraFace in a league of its own. Firstly, not only is it an FDA-cleared 'medical device' meaning you'll see results, but it's also simple to switch between different treatments - and even more so to slot into an existing routine.

Though it's easy to be lured in by a viral product (after all, it's trending on TikTok), I can notice a visible change in my skin, if not a more radiant, happier-looking complexion.
