These iconic athletes feature in Nike's powerful 'So Win' Superbowl ad dedicated to women's sports
One experience many women share is being undervalued. Whether it's the expectations placed on us or the scrutiny over how we speak, act and dress, we often find ourselves having to prove our worth time and time again
Nike has made a powerful statement amid the madness of the US Superbowl with their first ad in 27 years – revealing a new brand anthem in support of women's sports, 'So Win'.
Voiced by Doechii, a recent Grammy-award-winning artist, the 60-second video includes montages of some of the US' leading women's sports stars, including WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark, Olympic gold-medallist track athlete Sha'Carri Richardson, gymnastics gold-medallist Jordan Chiles, Spanish footballer Alexia Putellas, and more of the brand's roster of athletes as they dominate in their sport.
'You don’t wait for attention, you take it. You put in the work; you stay ready; and, when the moment comes, you own it,' said Chiles in the messaging.
'Winning isn’t just about medals. It’s about overcoming, about proving to yourself that you’re capable of more than you ever imagined. And doing it all authentically.'
The mantra was created as a dedication to athletes who dominate in their sports, yet are constantly told what to do and who to be. The powerful campaign calling to block out noise and let the results speak for themselves, these athletes embody the iconic Nike messaging of 'Just Do It' and bring attention to the success that is women's sports.
'The world is watching right now, and we're making sure they don't look away,' said Alexia Putellas.
Particularly in today's cultural landscape, a global brand standing behind women athletes feels particularly powerful – broadcasted during one of the most-watched sports games of the year with figures including Donald Trump in attendance.
'You can't take credit. You cant speak up. You can't be so ambitious. You can't break records. You can't have any fun. You can't be proud. You can't keep score. You can't stand out. Whatever you do, you can’t win. So Win.'
