How To Get Your Hair Bone Straight And Glossy

We all want luxurious locks like the adverts on TV, but once we get started with our hair routine, the end result is usually far from what we expected.

We’ve tested and experimented and come up with the best steps to get your hair bone straight and glossy.

Preparation

Start off with freshly washed and completely air dried hair. It may be tempting to begin the process with unwashed hair but any build up or grease will weigh your hair down and will be deposited throughout your hair whilst straightening.

Gently brush out any tangles with a Tangle Teezer (£10.99), this will help eliminate frizz and remove tangles without using excessive force which may cause split ends.

Protectants

To get your hair bone straight we’d recommend using as little product as possible to avoid product build up, but a heat protectant is a must to avoid heat damage from your straighteners.

Opt for a proctectant that you can spray into your hair such as TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray (£5.25) as this will help to distribute the product evenly and this will also dry quicker.

Straightening

If you have regular straighteners you’ll need a straightening comb to help you get the best bone straight hair.

Straightening combs not only help to de-tangle hair, they also allow you to pick up manageable pieces of hair whilst minimising heat damage as they have excellent ventilation.

We’d recommend using wide plated straighteners as they can reduce the amount of time you spend straightening your hair since they cover a larger area.

The Remington Pro Ceramic Extra Hair Straighteners S5525 (£49.99) is good tool have in your arsenal if you like to wear your hair straight. Set it to your desired heat, which should normally be around the 180-200°C mark, if you have thicker hair you can set the temperature up to 230°C.

Take a small section of your hair and run your straightener gently down this section of hair - only repeat on the same section of hair if you need to.

Once you’ve straightened your hair, apply a small amount of hair spray to tame those fly-aways.

For the gloss, coconut oil is our saviour!

Bag yourself a tub of this multi purpose oil. Superdrug Coconut Oil (£2.95 for 125ml) is inexpensive and great for more than just hair.

Take a tiny pea sized amount and rub this into your palms to create a liquid then smooth onto your hair.

Be careful not to add too much as this will give you a greasy weighed down look.

For one last bone straight hack brush your hair down with your Tangle Teezer again and voila!
