Property expert HCB Solicitors said common issues like damp, faulty electrics, and outdated heating could end up setting buyers back thousands and add to the stress of buying a house.
And they urged all homebuyers to take a closer look before committing to the purchase as failing to do so could see you out of pocket.
And they said even if you think it’s minor, it’s worth talking through the survey findings with your solicitor, to figure out whether the property is a worthwhile investment.
David Roberts, Head of Property at HCB Solicitors said: "It’s crucial to know what you’re walking into. A small upfront investment in a survey can save you thousands in the long run."
