Home of the Week: This $11.5 Million Gilt-Trimmed Paris Apartment Is a Short Walk From the Eiffel Tower
This light-filled Parisian apartment is a delightful step back in time. Built in 1870, the opulently embellished residence is located in a boutique building in the City of Light’s 7th arrondissement (or district), often considered one of the most affluent and prestigious residential areas in Paris and, indeed, in all of France. Coldwell Banker Paris holds the $11.47 million (€10.5 million) listing.
The 7th arrondissement is home to some of Paris’s most iconic sites, including the Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars gardens and the Musée Rodin, as well as important buildings such as the Palais Bourbon and the Hôtel des Invalides. Along with some of the city’s most tourist-thronged attractions, there are sedate pockets with quiet streets that provide a charming village-like feel. The neighborhood of Gros Caillou, one of the most sought-after areas to live in the 7th, is one such area, where the streets are lined with stately multi-million-dollar mansions and apartment houses that date back centuries.

The building is entered through a grand, marble-lined foyer with large windows that line a regal staircase leading to the apartments on the upper floors. The available apartment, on the second floor, spans almost 3,500 square feet with four bedrooms and one bathroom, along with a separate shower room. The home overlooks the tree-lined street and is flooded with natural light. There are antique marble fireplaces and chevron-pattern parquet floorboards, gold leaf-adorned trim work and moldings, and Napoleon III-style coffered ceilings, which are characteristically dominated by elaborate decorative motifs.
Wood doors with custom wrought-iron detailing open to reveal the grand foyer, but the heart of the home is the vast, Louis XV-style living room with soaring 13-foot-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling French windows that open to a stone balcony. The living room connects to a commodious dining room, and each room can be closed off by closing the gilt-trimmed doors, but when left open, each room flows easily through to the other. Off the dining room is a sleek, ultra-modern kitchen with built-in cabinetry and state-of-the-art Gaggenau appliances. The curved gold base of the central snack bar island adds a shimmering dose of contemporary glamour, while French doors open to a planted terrace.
There are two large, air-conditioned bedrooms, both with balcony access, gilded ceilings and marble fireplaces. Off the primary bedroom is a massive walk-in closet, and nearby is the bathroom, with an oversized marble-lined shower, dual vanities, and a freestanding bathtub. Finally, there is dedicated space in the building’s basement for storage and, per marketing materials, there is potential to acquire a private parking space with an electric charging station at an additional cost.
The apartment is also being sold with two additional one-bedroom apartments located within the same building, perfect for accommodating multi-generational families, hosting out-of-town guests, housing staff, or as rental income.
