Hollywood Star Gal Gadot Reveals Terrifying Health Crisis
Gal Gadot was rushed into emergency surgery after doctors found a “massive” blood clot in her brain when she was eight months pregnant with her youngest daughter, the Wonder Woman star has revealed.
After enduring weeks of “excruciating” headaches left her bedridden, in February, an MRI uncovered the clot, and within hours of receiving the diagnosis, she was in surgery, Gadot, 39, wrote Sunday in an Instagram post.
“My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear. Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance,” she wrote. “Before the surgery, I told [my husband] Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”
The surgery was a success, Gadot wrote, and thanks to her “extraordinary” doctors at Cedars Sinai hospital, she made a full recovery and welcomed Ori in March. Gadot and husband Jaron Varsano, who run a production company together, also share daughters Alma, 13, Maya, 7, and Daniella, 3.
Gadot kept her health emergency quiet for months, but eventually, she decided to share as a way of “pulling back the curtain” on curated social media moments—and to raise awareness about the risk of blood clots during pregnancy.
“Giving birth is a miracle, a testament to the strength and resilience of our bodies and spirits. But it also demands so much from us, reminding us to care for ourselves as fiercely as we care for others,” she added in the comments section. “As we celebrate Hanukkah, a holiday of light and miracles, I reflect on the personal miracle I was granted.”
