Holly Willoughby has given a rare insight into her 16-year marriage with Daniel Baldwin ahead of the pair’s wedding anniversary on August 4.

The This Morning presenter, 42, wed Baldwin, 48, at Amberley Castle in Sussex on August 4, 2007 and have since had three children together.

In a candid post, Willoughby has said that the secret to her relationship success is "carving out time for each other".

"August happens to be the month I got married, so it's always a nostalgic time for Dan and I," Willoughby said in her weekly post for her lifestyle brand, Wylde Moon.

"It will be 16 years this year, which feels crazy in so many ways. I often think about us and the glue that binds us together. Every relationship is so unique and different; what works for one couple may not for another."

Willoughby added that a relationship is a "bit like developing your own personal recipe" that you adapt together and personalise along the way.

"I love nothing better than finding out what my friends/parents believe the secret to their relationship success is – and would love to hear your wisdom too," she added, before divulging the key to her relationship longevity.

"Mine would have to be remembering to carve out real time for each other within the madness of everyday life; everything from making time to talk over dinner at home to date nights. Whatever you do to keep the spark alive, keep it up!"

Last year, Willoughby gave some insight into her and Baldwin’s wedding day. She said she decided on Amberley Castle as the venue as she used to visit it as a child and she "always dreamt that one day I’d get married there too".

As for her wedding dress, Willoughby said she designed it herself with the help of a pattern cutter from Alexander McQueen.

"I had in my head exactly what I wanted, but I couldn’t find it anywhere! I knew I wanted it to be very vintage, lace, with long sleeves, a high neck and a beautiful, open back, as that’s what everyone sees when you walk down the aisle. Oh, and a long train…if you can’t do that on your wedding day when can you?" she wrote.

"A friend of mine introduced me to this incredible lady who was a pattern cutter for Alexander McQueen. I sat down with her and we sketched my dress. I had pictures of my mum’s wedding dress which was a similar shape, and that formed the basis of it. Her dress had that 70’s Biba style sleeve – not unlike the puffed Vampire’s Wife shape actually."

Willoughby added that she had an old pair of bright red leather high heeled shoes that she got re-made in white satin for the day.

The presenter also revealed that her cake consisted of a lemon and poppy seed tier and a vanilla Victoria sponge tier, and that her first dance song was to ‘English Rose’ by Paul Weller.
