Here's what the Queen gives her staff for Christmas

If you worked for the Queen in Buckingham Palace, you’d probably expect a little token of appreciation at Christmas.

And turns out the monarch’s 1,500 staff do receive a gift during the festive season.

It’s not a pay rise or lovely bonus (probably much to their disappointment).

Instead, the 91-year-old royal gives each of her employees a Christmas pudding to take home to their families. The tradition was started by her grandfather, George V, and has carried on for decades.

But according to royal sources, the Queen has seriously cut costs this year. Where once she sourced her Christmas puddings from high-end stores such as Harrods and Fortnum & Mason, this year she has gone for a slightly more budget product.

Reports say royal employees will be receiving a pudding from Tesco. Tesco’s Finest Matured Christmas Pudding costing £8, to be precise.

Those who have given their entire life to serve Her Majesty are given a little something extra.

Vouchers.

“The handing out of Christmas vouchers to staff is regiment, with the most senior household staff going first, followed by clerks and then domestic workers and gardeners,” Hello magazine reports.

We wonder if William, Kate, Harry and Meghan will receive their very own pudding this Christmas.
