Mila Kunis lets her three-year-old daughter drink wine.

But before the parenting police pipe up, there’s a reason behind it.

The ‘Bad Moms’ actress and her husband Ashton Kutcher, who are also parents to 18-month-old Dimitri, allow little Wyatt to have a “sip of wine” every Friday for religious reasons.

The actress, who has a Jewish background, has revealed that the weekly tradition is all part of Shabbat, Judaism’s day of rest.

“We do Shabbat at our house. At Shabbat, you have a sip of wine,” she revealed in an interview. “My daughter had a sip of wine since she was born.”

“Friday mornings she wakes up and I say, ‘It’s Friday,’ and she says, ‘I can have wine!’”

According to the BBC, the drinking of wine on Shabbat symbolises joy and celebration. “After the candles are lit, Jewish families will drink wine. Sabbath wine is sweet and is usually drunk from a special goblet known as the Kiddush Cup,” the site explains.

“Most Jewish people look forward to Shabbat all week. They see it as God’s gift to his chosen people of a day when they take time out from everyday things to feel special.”

It isn’t the first time Mila Kunis has spoken out about her parenting life. Earlier this month it was revealed that the couple don’t plan on giving their children gifts for Christmas this year.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kunis, explained that though she fully participates in Christmas traditions, like decorating the tree, when it comes to the giving of gifts she and Kutcher have chosen to be more mindful of how their kids view that time of year.

“We’re instituting it this year because when the kids are [younger than] one, it doesn’t really matter,” she said.

“Last year when we celebrated Christmas, Wyatt was two and it was too much.”

“We didn’t give her anything ― it was the grandparents. The kid no longer appreciates the one gift. They don’t even know what they’re expecting; they’re just expecting stuff.”

This is in stark contrast to the mum-of-two who revealed yesterday that she she’s decided to spoil her kids this Christmas by spending a grand total of about £2,100 on presents.
