The passion-filled period spans between autumn and spring, when we often look to cuddle up with someone close and create memories around the holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day — or even, share a New Year's kiss!

There's astrological significance around cuffing season too, between when it begins and who you may match with in an attempt to make the months ahead a little less lonely. It's also important to note the zodiac signs that bookend the season.

Cuffing season begins in Libra, the ruler of marriage and partnership. It ends in Aries, the zodiac sign known for independence and paving our own paths. Perhaps, this explains why breakups often occur in these months because it's time to take the lead and fly solo!

Astrologer Kyle Thomas points out that cuffing season is going to be "especially nostalgic" this year due to the many retrogrades that will occur, likely bringing "exes" or "old friends" back into your life. "Many people will reunite and attempt to rekindle connections," he says.

Mars retrograde begins on Dec. 6 and lasts through Feb. 23, though we will start to feel its effects as early as Oct. 4, 2024. It initially takes place in Leo, which Thomas says "rules courtship, dating and true love in astrology."

Jupiter retrograde stretches between Oct. 9 and Feb. 4, 2025. It astrologically spins backward in Gemini, which Thomas says "rules close friendships" and our "close network." The zodiac sign is also represented by the twins, causing a "hunger for connection" and "communication" during this time.

When it comes to your zodiac sign's perfect match, Thomas says it will be the one that's "opposite polarity" of it (also known as its sister sign). He explains, "We're experiencing a final solar eclipse in Libra, a sign that rules the natural seventh house of marriage, union and commitment."

Thomas notes the solar annular eclipse, which arrived on Oct. 2, can "open doorways" for the next six months ahead. "The entirety of cuffing season!" he points out.

Aries, you're especially focused on partnership this cuffing season. In fact, Thomas predicts "you could be taking things to the next level."

If you aren't in a relationship, Thomas says singles have "a glorious amount of cosmic energy in their favor" for love and passion. With the planets heating up your heart chakra, he predicts "you’ll easily be able to line up options and find someone who could be a match."

Thomas warns, however, that exes "could be knocking down your door after December and the months that follow." Meanwhile, he says to "go for it" if you'd like to rekindle the flow.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Taurus, you’re going to be feeling especially social this cuffing season! Thomas says this could "help you mix and mingle with new options" if you're looking for that special someone.

However, the months ahead will see a change in tide. "You are going to feel an extremely deep need to nest, nuzzle and be domestic," he puts forth, noting that the trend is likely to last until birthday season and beyond.

"Big twists and turns around commitment could pop up before the end of the year," Thomas continues, like an "engagement or even a breakup." If the latter, he says "it's probably because you’re not fulfilled and are eager to look elsewhere."

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

It's time to put yourself out there, Gemini, because Thomas says "it's one of the best" cuffing seasons for you in nearly a decade!

Singles, Thomas says you have "an immense amount of luck in your favor" because you're "more radiant than ever" at this time. "Court attention at all costs and you’ll find a line of people waiting to connect," he predicts.

If in a relationship, Thomas says you could also enjoy the period and "new beginnings" together. Meanwhile, he warns, "The end of the year could bring lots of ex-energy back."
