There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In 'Great Outfits in Fashion History: Travel Week Edition,' Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite travel-themed lewks.

Celebrities are always on the go — as Lady Gaga once put it: "Bus, club, 'nother club, 'nother club, plane, next place. No sleep."

With pushy paparazzi always awaiting them at the airport, stars often dress in style to catch flights. And when it comes to jet-set fashion statements, I'm obsessed with Mariah Carey's airport style. As a '90s (and current) icon, she's well-acquainted with the slip dress, in every part of her life — including travel, like when she was photographed at the Los Angeles International Airport in 1998 in lightweight blue maxi that mixes leading character energy with airplane-cabin-chic.

A staple in many closets, the slip dress can easily be overpowered by accessories, but Carey let her dress shine by only adding a gold necklace and some ear-hugging gold hoops. With black shades and strappy sandals, this outfit is ready to take the Songbird Supreme straight from the airport to the beach.

Airports have definitely seen some of my less impressive looks (i.e. the last clean outfit in my suitcase paired with a much-needed iced latte), which is precisely why Carey's airport style is the inspiration I need to take my travel looks to new heights. Whether you'll be jetting off this summer or lounging poolside, scroll for our picks for traveling as stylishly as Carey does this summer.
