Jeff Brazier has revealed that despite being approached for Strictly Come Dancing, he would not do the show out of fear it would 'steal the thunder' from his son Bobby, who danced in the ITV competition last year.

Bobby and Jeff - who are co-stars on Celebrity Gogglebox - delighted fans with their humour when they joined Celebrity Gogglebox last year and are set to return for the show's upcoming series.

The show adds to Bobby's growing number of TV appearances since he joined EastEnders as Freddy Slater in 2022 and his recent Strictly stint. The young actor is following in the footsteps of his famous parents, TV presenter Jeff and reality star Jade Goody, who passed away in 2009. But despite Jeff being in showbusiness much longer than his son, the presenter has admitted that Strictly is 'Bobby's thing'.

"Bobby’s been there, it’s his thing. "I feel like to step into that world would almost be to sort of steal his thunder slightly. That was Bob's thing and I want to leave it to him," Jeff told The Sun.

Jeff continued: "I've got plenty of things that I really enjoy doing, I've got lots of exciting projects moving forward and I'll stay in my lane, I think," confirming that Strictly "wouldn't be right".

During Bobby's stint on Strictly, where he danced with Dianne Buswell, it was clear to see that Jeff was his biggest supporter. Following Bobby's emotional Strictly dance tribute to Jade during the show, dad of two broke down in tears and later penned a moving message on Instagram. Jeff proudly gushed: "To share your grief even to just one person can be a daunting prospect but to express it so movingly in front of millions takes incredible courage so thank you for your inspiration."

He went on to say: "Encouraging many a conversation about loss & giving people an outlet for the tears they might find hard to release is a wonderful legacy of your time in the competition so far. You said something in the VT about making me proud of you? You and your brother achieved that a long time ago. Don't forget I've seen the journey and you both have my lifelong support & unwavering respect."

Alongside Bobby, Jeff is also dad to Freddie, 19, and recently opened up to OK! about how he spent Father's Day with the boys last week - joking that he'd much rather his boys picked up their washing every day than go above and beyond for just 24 hours.

"I like receiving cards from them. That’s all I care about! Every day is Father’s Day to me really. I know my kids appreciate me. I don’t need a big banner or a full-blown effort on one day and then they go back to leaving their washing on the floor – I’m looking for a bit of consistency here."
