Morning Live's Gethin Jones has given romance update to fans after he revealed he was kicked off a dating app by mistake. The BBC presenter was interviewed by Line of Duty star Martin Compston and journalist Gordon Smart on their podcast Restless Natives, when he revealed that he had been removed from the dating app, Hinge, following complaints by women who believed he was catfishing.

When asked by Gordon what was the weirdest situation he had been in, he said: "I think mine was a couple of weeks ago where I had been kicked off Hinge twice in eight hours for violating the code of conduct. And what I think it was, was 300 women had reported me for catfishing, which - when you are on Morning Live, I should have known better, to not verify my account.

"But the moment I had to write to Hinge: 'Dear Hinge', Thursday night at home, writing to an online dating app: 'Hi, it's Gethin here. I'm 46. Just wondering if I could get my money back, it's not really working'. I got some food and then I came back and I thought to myself, what am I doing with my life?".

In response, Martin and Gordon laughed, with Martin pointing out that he thought Raya, an exclusive dating app often limited to celebrities, was "the one". For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.

While on the podcast, the Cardiff-born presenter also spoke about his career, travelling the world while he was presenting Blue Peter and the Welsh language. A fluent Welsh speaker, Gethin remarked that at times he found that the language wasn't "sexy".

He said: "I'm a very proud Welshman and I love my language, but it's not sexy, you know?", to which Martin Compston said: "It's a lot of consonants." Gethin continued: "If you want to schmooze someone in Welsh, it's difficult." But then Martin responded with: "If you flip that... if you schmooze somebody who can't speak Welsh, it does sound exotic."
