Gavin and Stacey star makes bold career move post show ending

He may not be returning to Wales to make more episodes of Gavin & Stacey, following the Christmas day finale episode, but Gavin star, Mathew Horne will be coming back as part of his new career - as a DJ. Horne, 46, has recently announced a wave of DJ gigs across the UK.

One of which includes the famous Chepstow Racecourse which saw the likes of Tom Jones and Shania Twain perform just last year. The event was announced on Chepstow Racecourse's social media on February 23, alongside a video of the actor.

In the video he says: "I'm really looking forward to DJing at the Chepstow Grand National Party Raceday on Saturday, April 5. It's going to be a huge after racing party so don't miss out and grab your tickets now."

The Racecourse remarked of the event:"We’re beyond excited to welcome Mathew Horne – yes, the legend himself (Gavin & Stacey’s very own Gavin!) – as he spins the ultimate party anthems and keeps the vibes high after racing!"

He has also recently been spotted DJing in a nightclub in North Wales. Horne took to the decks in Trilogy Nightclub in Bangor on March 1. Speaking after the event, the Trilogy Nightclub team said: "Good times and good vibes only. Gav-laa smashed it and we couldn’t deliver nights like these without YOU! Thank you Bangor."

The actor turned DJ has also been announced as one of the acts performing at Tunes on the Bay Swansea which will take place on Swansea Beach from May 2 to May 4. He will be the afternoon on headliner on the Saturday. Alongside Horne, announced on the line-up is Friday headliner McFly, and Saturday's headliner Supergrass.

His set has been described by the event saying: "Get ready to dance the night away as Mathew Horne brings his Gavin & Stacey DJ set to Tunes on the Bay this Saturday! Best known for his role as Gavin in the beloved TV series, Mathew will be taking to the decks to deliver an epic night of 90s and 00s indie rock bangers."

Horne played Gavin Shipman for 17 years over three series of Gavin & Stacey and two seasonal specials.
