Gavin & Stacey final episode 'very satisfying' with 'twists and turns' confirms BBC star
Gavin & Stacey fans across the land are growing even more excited by the day as we edge closer to the very last ever episode of the iconic sitcom, that will air for one final time on Christmas Day.
The question on everyone's lips though, will we ever know what happened on the infamous family fishing trip? Or will it end up being one of life's long mysteries. Sadly, the cast are keeping very tight lipped so we cannot comment at this stage if fans will be put out of their misery.
But what we do know from recent discussions with the entire cast is that BBC viewers will be left feeling "satisfied" as many "twists and turns" are unravelled for one final time.
Steffan Rhodri who plays Dave Coaches in the comedy series couldn't believe the ups and downs that were to be discovered when he opened the 2024 script. He revealed: "I had no idea what to expect when I received the script so the twists and turns were surprising and very satisfying!
"I messaged James (Corden) immediately after reading it and said something like, I thought it was like one of Shakespeare’s great comedies with the surprising plot twists combined with the wonderful symmetry of the romance. A slightly grandiose assessment, but fair I think!"

Speaking about what's to come co-creator and star James Corden opened up on what it felt like to be reunited with the entire cast again. He commented: "It felt incredible. I mean for a long time when Ruth (Jones) and I were writing the show we actually didn’t know if it would ever come to fruition because really what we’ve always done is just write it for ourselves and then figure out if we think it might be good enough for an audience.
"It just felt so good to be back in a room with Ruth and then thinking we may have happened on a story which might be satisfying."
Viewers were left on the edge of their seats five years ago after one of the most iconic cliffhangers of all time. Nessa Jenkins - played by co-creator Ruth Jones - got down on one knee to pop the big question to her on and off partner Smithy - played by Corden.
We didn't actually ever find out if Nessa and Smithy ever tied the knot. We didn't even know if he'd said "yes". With the Christmas episode about to air, we are still none-the-wiser if the pair ever said 'I do'.
So what can fans expect from the very last episode? In Barry, Bryn's has been busy packing Picasso as he readies for a trip to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are continuing to look for new ways to spice up their seventeen year marriage and Gwen has started acting oddly.
Meanwhile, Nessa has struck up a new business and Neil, the baby, has kicked off an apprenticeship with his dad Smithy. In Billericay, Gavin parents Pam and Mick are in a flap about playing hosts as newly retired Mick practicing golf swings in the living room.
Their friends Dawn and Pete bump into more relationship woes.
Gavin & Stacey the final ever episode is set to air on Christmas Day at 9pm
