Wayne Rooney's romantic Christmas proposal after wife Coleen's storming jungle stint
From tackling creepy crawlies to coming face to face with snakes, Coleen Rooney certainly made her family proud, bagging the runner-up slot on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!. And one person who must be bursting with admiration is her husband, Wayne, who, a source claims to OK!, is feeling more grateful than ever after watching his wife of 16 years win hearts and minds on the small screen.
"Wayne has loved watching Coleen and it has made him remember just how amazing she is and how much he appreciates her", they say. "It has made their marriage even stronger, as it's been a wake-up call for Wayne. He realised how much she actually does for the whole family, and how much he misses her when she's not around," said the source.
Coleen and Wayne are parents to four sons; Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight and Cass, six -and their two youngest spent two weeks in Australia to support their famous mum, who placed second in the ITV show behind winner Danny Jones. And now Wayne has finally had his emotional reunion with Coleen, 38, it seems the former Manchester United striker, 39, will be turning up the romance with a proposal for more quality time together over the festive period and into the new year.

"Wayne knows he has someone very special and watching Coleen taking on trials has shown him how strong she really is. He's going to make more of an effort for some quality time and wants to take her on date nights. Wayne wants to have more time with her and the kids and be more hands-on when he's home.
They go on to claim that the football manager is nothing but supportive of what his other half may do next. "He is keen on supporting Coleen in what could be a really huge career in TV. He wants to give her the chance to shine and support her, like she has supported him for so long. It's going to be a really strong year for them as a couple".
After making it in the jungle for the show's full three-week run, Coleen was greeted by her parents; Colette and Tony McLoughlin and sons Kit and Cass upon her exit. However, leaving the camp, Coleen said she was straight on the phone to Wayne - who admitted her jungle stint was the longest he had ever gone without speaking to his wife.
"As soon as I came out, I phoned home. Wayne just said how proud he was," said an overwhelmed Coleen, who received a sweet letter from Wayne and their children while in camp. She continued, "In the letter I got, he said he’s never missed me as much - and I can understand that, because we’ve not spoke.”
Explaining that, while they have spent time away from one another before, it has been complete with several FaceTime calls and text messages a day, Coleen added, "To not have that communication, it’s been tough".
Meeting when they were just teenagers, Wayne and Coleen have been in a relationship for over two decades and tied the knot in 2008 with a beautiful ceremony in the Italian town of Portofino. Opening up about their relationship during her time in the jungle, Coleen reminisced how Wayne had chased her when they were back at school. "It was [love at first sight] for him, not for me. He fought to get me," she told her campmates. "I waited until I’d done my GCSEs and then I went on a date. I was pretty good at school."
The pair have come a long way since, and now reside in a stunning Cheshire mansion with their brood, which is worth an estimated £20million. However, Wayne and Coleen have had their fare share of ups and downs since, with reports of Wayne's infidelity during his football career casting a shadow on their relationship through the years.
However, according to the source, Coleen's newfound TV career has made Wayne even more grateful they have gotten through those tumultuous times. "This has made him see how, at times, he's been foolish. He just absolutely cherishes Coleen more than ever now. He's seen the country fall in love with her too, , and is so happy. They're in a better place than ever."
Since stepping down from the pitch, Wayne has made a career for himself in football management and is currently managing Plymouth Argyle Football Club, after stints at Birmingham City, Derby County and US team D.C United. And now, our source maintains that he is reflecting on how far away from family he wants his career to take him.
"He's having a real think about whether he should stay at Plymouth and is going to analyse what is best for the family. He wants to make the effort and having time to be hands on with the kids and Coleen," added the source.
With Christmas around the corner, this year's festivities will be made even more special as Coleen and Wayne spend some long-awaited quality time together - as the source adds that Wayne will be pulling out some 'extra special' treats for his deserving wife.
Here's to what sounds like a very merry - and romance-filled - for Wayne and Coleen...
