Launching Friday, in select stores and on gap.com, the collection allows each designer to share their point of view through the lens of Gap’s products.
Gap and Harlem’s Fashion Row will unveil the collection with an event hosted at Gap’s San Francisco headquarters on Thursday. The presentation blending storytelling with fashion and movement will be held ahead of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in San Francisco.
“This partnership is a natural fit, as it’s rooted in our shared mission to empower creators and provide them with a platform to share their talent with the world,” said Mark Breitbard, president and chief executive officer of Gap brand. “Each designer’s creativity takes center stage — inspired by Gap’s heritage while bringing a fresh, authentic perspective to create a truly original collection. We’re excited to bring our communities together to celebrate in our hometown of San Francisco, a city that fuels creativity and innovation.”
Gap has been a longtime partner with Harlem’s Fashion Row since 2019, helping to support their mission through industry events, brand collaborations, educational programs and intentional HBCU investments through HFR’s Icon360 program. Together, Gap and HFR’s partnership has fueled a commitment to building a more equitable retail industry.
“Our partnership with Gap has always been about more than fashion; it’s about creating opportunities, breaking barriers and amplifying the voices of these incredibly talented designers,” said Brandice Daniel, CEO and founder of Harlem’s Fashion Row. “This collaboration is especially meaningful as it represents the evolution of our shared vision to reimagine possibilities for designers of color. Together, we’re not only celebrating creativity but also fostering a legacy of inclusivity and empowerment that will inspire generations to come.”
Each designer has created two custom shirts and one bespoke hoodie.
For example, A.Potts, designed by Aaron Potts, combined utilitarian details with couture-inspired volumes, and crafted them in modern fabrics for a contemporary edge. BruceGlen, which is designed by twin brothers Bruce and Glen Proctor, created eclectic looks that feature vibrant colors and bold patterns.
Kaphill, Krystal Phillips’ label, aimed to create statement-making designs that inspire confidence and self-expression.
N’Gai, designed by Nicole King, redefined classic styles with ultra-feminine silhouettes, while Richfresh, designed by Patrick Henry, showcased tailoring skills with detail-oriented pieces.
The Gap x Harlem Fashion Row collection will be available on gap.com and in select Gap locations from Friday at noon ET. Styles in the collection retail from $89 to $129.
