Which Game of Thrones characters haven’t even met yet?

From Good Housekeeping

With the first proper Game of Thrones final season trailer having dropped, it’s made us head to the Citadel to investigate one of our most burning questions about the final season.

Namely, who’s going to meet for the first time, before the final episode comes along to absolutely blow our minds away like some sort of dragon looking at the Lannister army?

We're talking about major characters here, so don’t expect us to contemplate when Hot Pie might meet Qyburn (who could potentially provide excellent undead meat for his pies): we’re only focused on the big characters. You'd be surprised who hasn't met whom. Like this lot…

Cersei and Jaime have not met Melisandre

It’s madder than a man with long-term greyscale that neither Jaime or Cersei have met Melisandre yet, considering how instrumental she was to the Battle of the Five Kings.

This is one meeting we’re fairly sure will happen. Melisandre has a thing for royal blood, so it’ll be interesting to see if she manages to use that magic to her advantage in the fight for Westeros.

Bronn has not met Bran or Arya

Of the two, Bronn will probably get on better with Arya (sorry Bran). Even though his name sounds a bit like Bran’s, he has more in common with the cool, tough and calmly merciless warrior that is Arya.

They’re basically the same character, by this point, with Bronn’s sword technique resembling water dancing, especially in his first onscreen fight when he saved Tyrion from being chucked out the Moon Door.

Sam has not met Daenerys

Yep, Samwell has yet to meet his best mate’s missus, but we imagine that’ll change – the first full trailer shows Sam at Winterfell chatting with Bran, so a meeting is pretty much inevitable.

We wonder if Samwell will remember the season one conversation he had with Jon about Jon not sleeping with prostitutes, because he doesn’t know his ancestry and wouldn't want to accidentally sleep with a family member.

That’s going to get pretty awkward in season eight.

Daenerys hasn’t met any Starks

Well, she’s met Jon, whose mum was a Stark, did he but know it. They got on pretty well, actually. You could almost say like family. But there are other members of Jon’s adoptive family who Dany hasn’t yet met, though we know from footage released by HBO so far that she will meet Sansa and Arya.

As for how well they’ll all get on… Well, time will have to tell on that front.

Jorah hasn’t met the Starks either

... outside of Jon, of course, who he got on well with, despite the fact he’s being majorly friendzoned by the King in the North.

There’s a chance he met Sansa, Bran and Arya offscreen when they were children before he fled the North to avoid their father's death sentence. On screen, we’re yet to see how he gets on with everyone.

With Sansa being such a strong leader herself, maybe Jorah will have a new inappropriate crush to mope about in season eight – she’s definitely his type. (ie Strong, pretty and 30 years too young.)

Euron hasn’t met the Starks

Man, Jon gets around. Once again, we have a character who’s met Jon but none of his siblings.

We would absolutely love to see Euron meet Arya in season eight, mainly because it’ll probably directly lead to his death and he’s really, really bloody annoying.

Yara hasn’t met Jon Snow or any of the Starks

This might seem like a minor meeting, but it’s actually fairly significant. The Starks stole Yara’s little brother Theon when he was a child, ultimately sending him on his tragic path of self-destruction.

If Yara wants to take revenge for all the horrible things that have befallen her brother, you might see her pop up in Winterfell. She can’t kill Ned but his children can probably pay the iron price.

Tormund hasn’t met… Basically anyone

Considering how entertaining he was when he met Jon, and then Brienne, we can’t wait for him to make it further south. Will he want to kill Cersei, or marry her? That’s one flirtation we’d pay many, many golden dragons to see.

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere on April 14, 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
