'Love Is Blind' Season 6: What To KnowNetflix

Get back in the pods! Season 5 of Love Is Blind may have just concluded, but it's already time to start thinking about the next pod squad. There are some recent rumblings that season 6 of Love Is Blind may be coming soon.

Let's back up for a sec. ICYMI, Love Is Blind is a reality TV series about whether you can fall in love sight unseen (hence the title). The show is one of Netflix's biggest hits, and has successfully formed at least a few (but not many) real relationships.

During the show, contestants begin to date while in "pods" where they can't see what the other person looks like. From there, the couples that form in the pods must decide if they're willing to get engaged, and only then are they allowed to meet IRL. Then, it's off to the altar where each couple must decide whether, in the words of Nick and Vanessa Lachey, love is truly blind.

Last season, only one couple said "I do," but this show is about so much more than love—it's about golden goblets overflowing with drama, duh! Here's everything to know about (a potential) Love Is Blind season 6:

Netflix has not confirmed Love Is Blind season 6.

But that doesn't necessarily mean a new season isn't in the works! In fact, previous Love Is Blind seasons have been confirmed two at a time (seasons 4 and 5 were confirmed together), so the streamer may be waiting to see how many people tuned into the latest season before deciding whether or not to renew the reality show.

It's worth noting that a former Love Is Blind contestant, Tran Dang, filed a lawsuit against Kinetic Content and Delirium TV (the companies behind LIB) in August 2022, per TODAY. Dang was slated to be in the fifth season of the show, but did not appear in the final cut.

Dang alleges that while season 5 was in production, she was sexually assaulted by her former fiancé and fellow Love Is Blind contestant Thomas Smith (who was also cut from the season). Her lawsuit also alleges that Kinetic Content and Delirium TV are liable for Smith’s actions because they occurred during filming, or at their “workplace,” and as a contestant, Smith was an “employee,” TODAY reported. Dang's petition went on to say that “most if not all” of the acts were captured on camera by the production companies who allegedly had Dang and Smith under “24-hour surveillance.”

Smith denies wrongdoing, and the production companies released a joint statement, stating: "We support and stand with victims of sexual assault, but Ms. Dang's claims against the producers are meritless. We document the independent choices of adults who volunteer to participate in a social experiment. Their journey is not scripted, nor is it filmed around the clock. We have no knowledge or control over what occurs in private living spaces when not filming, and participants may choose to end their journey at any time."

Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen also responded to Dang's lawsuit in a statement to People, reiterating that the reality TV show does not film 24/7.

"We are not filming around the clock. We are not mounting cameras in their personal living spaces. We don’t do that. We’re like a documentary," he told the publication. "They are alone during periods of times, they are not under surveillance. We do not tell people what to say, what to do, we consistently tell people that this is their journey, this is their life to lead as they choose. We’re there to follow it."

Coelen also noted in his statement that Dang "did not make any kind of claim of assault of any kind" and that the production companies "would not continue filming with someone who was expressing that an incident of that sort had happened."

And, since it hasn't been confirmed, it's not totally clear when it will air. Sadly, it'll probably be at least a few months if past seasons give any insight. Love is Blind season 3 dropped in October 2022, while Season 4 premiered in March 2023. Then, Season 5 was released in September.

Love Is Blind seems to be casting for a new season.

Based on a post from Kinetic Content Casting on Instagram, it looks like the show is looking for singles in Minneapolis or St. Paul, Minnesota and Denver, Colorado at the moment—so people from those locations could make up the cast of Love Is Blind season 6, and potentially, season 7.

Where will Love Is Blind season 6 take place?

Based on the aforementioned Instagram post, it's likely a future season will take place in either Minneapolis or St. Paul, Minnesota, or Denver, Colorado.

However, a post on Love Is Blind Reddit claims that season 6 may have already been filmed with couples from North Carolina.

Will Nick and Vanessa Lachey be replaced as the Love Is Blind hosts?

It's likely. In April 2023, Page Six reported that Cameron Hamilton and Lauren Speed were in talks to replace the celebrity couple as the new hosts of the series. The season one couple are one of Love Is Blind's biggest success stories, but it seems the LIB audience would be happy with anyone but the Lacheys.

After the season 4 reunion episode (which was a bit of a technical disaster), fans started a petition to get the couple removed from the show for good. It currently has over 45,000 signatures.

Will there be a queer season of Love Is Blind?

Hopefully! However, it doesn't seem like any non-heterosexual couples will be featured on season 6. A comment on the Kinetic Content Casting post confirms that they are not currently casting for any same sex seasons of the show.

However, it's not totally out of the question for future seasons. In July 2023, LIB creator Chris Coelen said that he'd "love" to produce an all-queer season, but the logistics would have to be sorted out first.

"In the straight version of Love Is Blind, you’ve got all the men here and all the women there. Now, imagine it was an entirely queer cast. You wouldn’t produce it the same way," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "You couldn’t. Everyone would need to be isolated. It would be a completely different experience."
