ITV drama Flesh and Blood has hit screens, featuring an all-star cast including Imelda Staunton and Francesca Annis, and after just one episode it's already gripping fans.

Flesh and Blood is the modern story of three adult siblings - Helen, Jake and Natalie - who are thrown into disarray when their recently widowed mother Vivien declares she's in love with a new man,” ITV said ahead of the series airing.

“This is no ordinary relationship drama, as someone in the family will be dead by the end of the story - but the question of who dies and who is the killer keeps us guessing right up to the last moment,” the channel added.

Episode one aired last night (24 February) and it's already enthralling fans.

The opening episode introduced us to the family of Vivien (Francesca Annis) and their long-time next door neighbour Mary (Imelda Staunton). While on the surface Mary appears a faithful friend, there were hints in the opening episode that her intentions are perhaps more sinister. We saw her spying through her kitchen window using binoculars and opening Vivien's post without her knowing.

Fans are already speculating about what Mary's true colours are, with some speculating that she's the murderer of the body we saw, or that she had an affair with Vivien's first husband.

Viewers are clearly excited about the next instalment, and to find out more about the truth behind all the mystery we've been introduced to so far.

Luckily for them, they won't have long to wait as the episodes are airing on consecutive evenings this week with the next hitting screens tonight (25 February).
