The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Fans think new trailer introduces the daughter of a major MCU villain
Marvel fans believe they have identified one of the villains of the forthcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Solider.
The first trailer for the show, which sees Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprise their MCU roles of Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Solider), debuted during the Super Bowl last night (7 February).
It has already been confirmed that Daniel Brühl will be returning as the villainous Baron Zemo in the new series, but viewers have spotted hints that another sort-of-familiar foe could be in the offing.
Erin Kellyman (Solo: A Star Wars Story) appears in the short trailer, playing a character who is seemingly part of an anarchist group calling themselves the Flag-Smashers.
Kellyman's role in the series has not been officially revealed, but some fans have speculated that she could have been cast as Sinthea Schmidt, (aka "Sin") the daughter of Captain America's First Avenger nemesis Red Skull.
I'm definitely sure the girl is Sin, the Red Skull's daughter.

If it’s the girl in the mask I was thinking Red Skull’s daughter, Sin pic.twitter.com/ehLUX7yFmk

In the Marvel Comic series, Sin is a recurring villain who grew up in her nefarious father's image.
With red hair and freckles, Kellyman fits the established visual profile of Sin. The other characters in the film are also taken from the Captain America arm of the MCU, making Red Skull's progeny an obvious choice for a series antagonist.
However, given that Red Skull perished at the end of The First Avenger (2011), it remains to be seen whether her backstory would have to be tweaked from the classic comic canon.
The Falcon and the Winter Solider debuts on Disney+ on 19 March.
