Following the success of Netflix’s Emmy award winning documentary series, Beckham, it’s now time for Victoria to rightly get her own Netflix series, and we couldn’t be more excited.

We’re told the as-yet-untitled series will focus on Victoria’s time in the global spotlight as well as her business endeavours and family life. Here’s what we know so far.

What is the Victoria Beckham documentary about?

Since becoming a household name with the Spice Girls in the ‘90s, Victoria Beckham has become one of the most recognisable women in the world. With exclusive access to the former pop star, her family, and her closest confidantes, the eagerly-awaited series will chart Victoria’s journey building a fashion empire, and juggling her business with family life.

If David’s 2023 docu-series is anything to go by, we hope that Victoria’s series will offer us an equally extraordinary insight into the notoriously private couple and their home life – from the sweet, lighter stuff (who can forget David hilariously calling out Victoria for claiming she was going to work at “the fashion factory” when she was in fact going for a facial?) to the deeper, emotional issues she may not previously have addressed before. Also, with her tongue often firmly in cheek, we look forward to it showcasing Victoria’s famously good sense of humour.

Who is involved with the Victoria Beckham documentary?

Everyone knows Victoria has a keen eye for detail and incredibly high standards so, of course, she would only want the creme de la creme working on her documentary series. So, it comes as no surprise that her director of choice is filmmaker Nadia Hallgren, who was behind the 2020 four time Emmy nominated Netflix documentary, Becoming, which gave an intimate insight into the life of former First Lady Michelle Obama during “a moment of profound change” as the Obamas left the White House.

The series is produced by Studio 99 – the company husband David co-founded with best friend and long-term manager David Gardener and former media consultant and communications director Nicola Howson in 2019 – and Dorothy St Pictures. Emmy nominated Howson (Beckham, Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything) will serve as an executive producer, as will BAFTA nominated Julia Nottingham (Pamela, a love story).

Are there other Victoria Beckham documentaries?

Absolutely not! Victoria is the queen of documentaries with five official ones to her name. And while they might not have won an Emmy, they were fun and fascinating all the same.

In 2000, Channel 4 aired Victoria's Secrets which saw cameras following Victoria as she interviewed other British celebrities, like her good friend Elton John. It also showed her storming into Piers Morgan’s office, the then-editor of The Daily Mirror, to ask him why he always put her and David on the cover. His response was predictably candid: “It used to be, ‘when in doubt lead on the royals’,” Morgan said. “Now, ‘when in doubt, Posh’…You’re the new queen of newspapers. Queen Posh and King Dave.”

Two years later, she followed up with an ITV1 documentary called Being Victoria Beckham, which saw her discussing her career as a solo artist as she releases her first album, and attending various photoshoots and recording sessions. The show was a massive hit, attracting over eight million viewers, and proving the unquenchable appetite for all things Posh Spice.

Next up was The Real Beckhams which aired in 2003 on ITV1 and charted the couple’s move to Spain after David signed with Real Madrid. It also showed Victoria re-launching her solo career and mocking the tabloid stories she read in the papers.

Then, in 2006, audience’s won the golden ticket when they were invited to the Beckham’s Hertfordshire mansion, thanks to ITV1’s Full Length & Fabulous: The Beckhams' 2006 World Cup Party. In it, we saw the couple organising their lavish World Cup party, which aimed to raise money for charity, and saw friend Gordon Ramsay designing the menu, and Graham Norton hosting the charity auction. It was every bit as OTT and fabulous as you would imagine.

And finally, in 2007, we headed Stateside with the family in NBC's Victoria Beckham: Coming to America. Produced by Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, it was originally intended as a six-part series documenting the family’s move to the US but, in the end, was a one-hour special that aired on ITV1. While it didn’t garner favourable reviews, fans lapped up every second.

With an impressive back catalogue of entertaining documentaries in her croc embossed leather clutch bag, the bar has been set high for Victoria’s latest offering.

What is the Victoria Beckham documentary release date?

Production only began in August, so we don’t have a date of when it will land on Netflix – but we hope it will be next year at some point. In the meantime, we’ll just have to get our David and Victoria fix by re-watching Beckham.
