Esquire Readers Get 25 Per Cent Off WatchPro Salon 2024
For anyone with even a passing interest in watches, two of the most significant events on the annual calendar are almost upon us.
Both of them are run by WatchPro, the multi-platform destination with the inside track on the watch business, and one that's consumed by punters and CEOs alike.
First, there is WatchPro Salon, the two-day live event showcasing the best in British independent watchmaking, which returns to The Londoner hotel in London's Leicester Square on 1-2 November.
Brands exhibiting this year include Studio Underd0g, Brew Watch Co, Duckworth Prestex, M.A.D Editions, Maen, Fortis, Detrash, and more.
WatchPro Salon is a congenial environment where you can meet with brands, get hands on with watches, browse a selection of pre-loved timepieces available to buy in the Pre-Owned Lounge in association with eBay, and generally interact with other enthusiasts.
Tickets start at a thoroughly reasonable £20, but Esquire readers are eligible for a a 25 per cent discount.
“The last few years has seen a surge of interest for independent watchmaking in this country, but retailers have been slow to get on board,” says Watch Pro editor Rob Corder.
“WatchPro Salon is one of the only opportunities we have to see the creations of dozens of young brands up close and personal.
"It has grown every year since we took the insane decision to launch in 2021 when people were still being nudged by No. 10 to stay at home wearing masks made from something they found at the bottom of their laundry basket.
"Ironically, the lockdowns unlocked a huge passion for watches in this country, one that transformed the market. People who thought Rolex was the only brand they could ever love discovered the joys of independent watchmaking.
"In turn, that unleashed a tsunami of creativity from brands like Studio Underd0g, SpaceOne, ID Geneve, Horage, Wilbur and Atelier Wen. These, and forty more, will be showing their latest timepieces at Salon this year.”
Then there’s also the live talks.
“If you ever wanted to see new Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato in the hot seat and taken to task, as the watchmaker’s evangelists would have it, for butchering their beloved brand, WatchPro Salon is the place to be,” Corder says.
“I’ll be grilling the boss on the wisdom of ditching almost everything Bremont’s co-founders fought for, in a fireside chat on day one of the show.”
The second WatchPro event takes place on October 31 – the WatchPro Awards, celebrating the best and most noteworthy achievements on the business in 2024.
This year's takes place at Pan Pacific Hotel in London’s Square Mile.
