Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle on the ITV soap, has spoken about the changes she might have to make to her wedding plans in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, joking that she could now get married on Zoom.

Riley and her fiancé Al, who met in 2012, had been planning their wedding but the actress told Closer magazine that they are considering making some adjustments to their ceremony in case another lockdown is announced.

"My filming schedule runs until September, so, pre-lockdown, I knew there was never going to be a wedding before that," she said. "Al will be 50 in November and hopefully we will be away for his birthday, although if we do have another lockdown, (the service) will probably have to be in the spare bedroom with a few balloons.

"We might have a Zoom wedding online! Can you imagine Al in his joggers and me in my full Sweaty Betty? Nobody would be offended if we did that and there would be no leaking of photographs!

"But this pandemic has made me live for the moment and taught me not to plan. Now I think it doesn't matter if you're not going to get a certain wedding venue that you wanted. It's really enough to have each other."

Mandy recently confided in her adopted son Vinny (Bradley Johnson, who Riley revealed she speaks to "most days") while they were in lockdown together that she is unable to have children after a devastating miscarriage several years ago.

Discussing the storyline, Riley shared that she doesn't have children and told Closer that although she would have liked to have had kids, she has "accepted that ship has sailed now".

"It doesn't make me feel incomplete, not having kids. But it's other people who can make me feel incomplete," she said. "When they know that I don't have kids, they say 'Oh', and it's that inflection on the word, 'Oh, you don't have children', like I have missed out.

"But I am not afraid to say I don't have children and if I die tomorrow there is nothing that I haven't done. I have no regrets. I have ticked every box and I have left a happy legacy."

Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
