Emmerdale's Ruby Fox-Miligan was on the verge of spilling the beans to Charles Anderson and Manpreet Sharma, but a shocking revelation about Ethan Anderson's true cause of death stopped her in her tracks.

Beth Cordingly's character on ITV has been battling with overwhelming guilt after believing she caused Ethan's demise by accidentally hitting him with her car. The village troublemaker has been haunting a devastated Charles and Manpreet, trying to soothe her own guilt, but during a tense face-off with her son Nicky, she resolved to confess to the authorities.

In Thursday's episode (June 13), viewers saw Ruby caring for Charles and Manpreet as they braced themselves for Ethan's funeral amidst their relationship turmoil.

Ruby was offering support when a bombshell dropped: Charles got a call from the coroner stating that Ethan actually died from a brain aneurysm at 28, a tragic fate his grandfather Victor Anderson also met, reports the Mirror. After learning that the aneurysm could be a hereditary condition that strikes "at any time", Ruby quickly returned to Mill Cottage, breathing a sigh of relief as she recounted the events to her husband Caleb Miligan.

Despite Ruby being cleared of responsibility, fans who had guessed the twist were not pleased, expressing their frustration over the storyline and the perceived injustice. One disgruntled fan took to Twitter, saying: "They're trying to say the hit and run injuries didn't play a part in causing Ethan's death."

Another chimed in: "Even if Ethan's death wasn't anything to do with Ruby surely she'll still confess? She can't live with herself, or so she says", while another agreed: "The coroner will say Ethan had something wrong with him so the witch gets away with it So predictable."

A fourth viewer expressed: "Aneurysm was the cause of Ethan's death... notice how quickly Ruby didn't care any more", and a final fan remarked: "I'm actually disgusted that Ruby is off the hook for Ethan's death. Caleb can wave bye bye to having that ammo over his missus."

Sadly, Ruby's son Nicky was far from pleased to see his mother escape justice and, upon returning home, a heated argument broke out between him and his father Caleb, with whom he has always had a strained relationship. Tensions escalated as Nicky, who was also friends with the late Ethan, refused to celebrate his mother's innocence and eventually punched Caleb, with the violent scenes hinting at his upcoming departure from the village.
