Emma Watson’s knit dress is oh so subtly see-through
Naked dressing has well and truly taken over red carpets this year, and it's showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. We may only be eight days into September, but already this month we have seen *plenty* of celebs trying the trend.
Amal Clooney kicked things off in a vintage Dior nude gown. Rita Ora upped the ante by going braless in a totally transparent black dress. Florence Pugh put a bridal twist on the look in a white lace Alexander McQueen design at the ELLE Style Awards. While at the same event, Suki Waterhouse wore a sheer, crystal-embellished gown straight off the Fendi AW23 couture runway.
In perhaps some of the most daring naked 'fits we've seen so far this month, Julia Fox stepped out in a teeny tiny chain bodysuit with Lourdes Leon debuting a spiderweb-esque see-through mini a day later.
Now, Emma Watson is the latest to rep the look.
Attending the Soho House Awards in New York last night, Emma arrived at the event in a stunning gown from Christian Dior’s haute couture 23/24 collection. The dress featured a crochet bodice made from silver thread in the silhouette of a waistcoat. The tasselled hem fell over the floor-grazing cream, pleated maxi skirt. The ensemble is giving boho chic on top, glamorous ball gown on the bottom.
While crochet is easily identified from its open weave, Emma appeared to wear a nude bra under the top to protect her modesty. But upon closer inspection, the skirt of the gown kept the naked theme going as the fabric was actually very slightly see-through.
Emma could be seen at one point twirling in her dress, revealing the nude high-waisted briefs she had on underneath as the as the skirts pleats were expanded.
She styled the look with white court shoes, a quilted white clutch bag and pearl drop earrings. All in all, a *very* elegantly refined take on the trend.
