House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy has been praised for their “stunning” red carpet look at this year’s Golden Globes.

D’Arcy, 30, wore a custom Acne Studios outfit for the awards’ 80th year, which consisted of an oversized tuxedo jacket, black slimline trousers, an overlayed black skirt, stiletto boots, and blue gloves.

They completed the look with blue eyeliner and even dyed their hair blue to match.

Fans were quick to praise the star’s look, with one person, @kolaxbbi, writing: “Such a great look ugh.”

Another, @HOTDsource, simply said: “Emma D’Arcy, stunning.” While a third person, @westerosies, said: “Emma D’Arcy you are the moment.”

The non-binary actor told E! that their look was an expression of their gender identity and that they vibe they were going for was “child piano prodigy, and maybe the recital's not going well”.

“I'm also doing trans because I'm wearing some trousers and a skirt at the same time. And nothing says non-binary like wearing both a skirt and trousers,” they added.

D’Arcy was nominated for the Best Actress in a Drama Series award for their role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel series, but this was ultimately won by Zendaya for her role in Euphoria.

They told E! that the nomination was “beautifully ironic”, adding: “It's kind of a surreal thing because when I was starting out, I really felt that I had to pretend, to present as a woman in order to find success in this industry.

“Anyway, it wasn't sustainable, and I stopped pretending, and weirdly, it's at that point that I got nominated for best actress at the Golden Globes, which is beautifully ironic.”

D’Arcy added that their inclusion in the Best Actress category “implies that the space for trans people and gender-nonconforming people is getting bigger all the time. So, I feel very privileged”.
