Emily Blunt & John Krasinski’s Meet-Cute Is Straight Out of a Rom-Com

Love at first sight is a silly trope that only happens in rom-coms, right? Well, not exactly. According to Emily Blunt, that’s precisely how her love story with hubby John Krasinski began.

The A Quiet Place star visited Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday and shared that she knew Krasinski was her person right from the start.

Blunt explained that she and her hubby of eight years first locked eyes when they were eating at a restaurant. The Into the Woods star was out with a friend when her dining companion realized that Krasinski was also at the restaurant. The Office star was chowing down with Justin Theroux (R.I.P, Justin and Jen) and excused himself to say hello, or as Blunt put it, “He abandoned Justin and came over to talk to us. He did not eat. He just stood there and made me laugh.”

She went on to express that she knew he was the one immediately—and admitted that binge-watching The Office might have had something to do with it.

Blunt knows their meet-cute is the stuff of legend and quipped, “Guys, it’s golden. It’s cinema gold.” But don’t expect the couple to bring their IRL love story to the big screen anytime soon. Blunt admitted, “We’ve sort’ve been offered every romantic comedy under the sun. But no one wants to see John and I kind of meeting in a film. Like, people wouldn’t buy it.”

Um, we would...but maybe not this customs agent.
