Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's relationship timeline, as actress moves husband to tears at SAG Awards

Emily Blunt, 35, and her husband John Krasinski, 39, gave us major relationship goals last night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The actress moved her husband to tears with her acceptance speech as she collected the Female Actor in a Supporting Role award for ‘The Quiet Place’, a horror film which Krasinski wrote, directed and co-starred in.

She addressed him as she stood on stage before the audience, saying: “I am going to share this completely with my husband, John Krasinski, because the entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart directly.

“You are a stunning filmmaker. I am so lucky to be with you.”

With many celebrity marriages breaking down, Blunt and Krasinski hold steadfast as one of Hollywood’s most loved power couples. We take a look back at Bluntinski’s relationship timeline, which spans more than a decade.

November 2008: The couple meet through a mutual friend at a restaurant in Los Angeles, where Kravinski, who was then best-known for his role as Jim Halpert in the US version of ‘The Office’, was dining with Justin Theroux.

Kravinski spoke about this first meeting on ‘The Ellen Show’ in 2011.

He said: “It was one of those things where I wasn’t really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I’m going to take my time in LA. Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, ‘Oh god, I think I’m going to fall in love with her.’ As I shook her hand I went, ‘I like you.'”

The pair’s first date was a low-key affair consisting of pizza at Kravinski’s apartment in West Hollywood, they told The Hollywood Reporter.

August 2009: The pair got engaged less than a year after first meeting.

Speaking to Access Hollywood about the day he proposed, Krasinski said: “”She did cry after I cried and we cried and then everyone around us was crying. Then, I think people weren’t really sure what was going on, but they were crying because we were crying. But it was great. At the end of the day she said yes which is great. It’s a big part of this whole thing.”

July 2010: Krasinski and Blunt wed in a private ceremony in Lake Como, Italy, at the then-home of George Clooney. The bride wore a custom-made gown by Marchesa, according to US Weekly.

May 2012: Blunt spoke about her marriage in a cover interview for MANHATTAN magazine.

She said: “This is what I find difficult about talking about my marriage: It’s hard to sum up something that’s so vital and means everything to you in a sound bite. Do you know what I mean? All I can say is that it’s an effing blast. It’s just great, and I’m so happy.”

February 2014: Blunt gave birth to the pair’s first child, daughter Hazel, and Krasinski announced the news to the world via Twitter.

July 2016: The birth of the couple’s second daughter, Violet, with John once again choosing to announce the news of their new arrival on Twitter.

April 2018: The release of ‘The Quiet Place’, the pair’s first film together. Kravinski had written the part with his wife in mind, but didn’t want to pressure her into doing it. Thankfully, she asked him instead. “[I] went sort of grey. I couldn’t imagine the thought of letting someone else play the part,” she told the Hollywood Reporter.

Blunt’s award-winning performance in ‘The Quiet Place’ wasn’t her only major film role in the past year.

She also played the eponymous role in ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, working a billowing Yanina Couture gown at the film’s premiere last November.
