Elizabeth Hurley has shared a nude photo of herself as she paid tribute to Patrick Demarchelier, who passed away earlier this week aged 78.

The star, 56, posted the striking image, which sees her pose with wet hair beside a swimming pool, to her Instagram account.

It appeared as part of a carousel of pictures of her also taken by the late French photographer, including two Harper's Bazaar magazine covers – one with son Damian as a baby, and another with ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant.

Captioning the photos, she wrote: "RIP @patrickdemarchelier I shot so many covers, advertising campaigns and movie posters with you. You were a dream to work with and you will be so missed."

Hurley's post has received more than 161,000 likes, with over 2,000 social media users leaving comments.

These included her 19-year-old son Damian, who shared a 'love heart' emoji.

Joan Collins simply wrote: "Wow."

It comes shortly after the star revealed her "heart aches" as she paid tribute to her former fiancé Shane Warne.

Hurley shared photos from her engagement to the ex-cricketer, who passed away aged 52 last month, on the day of his funeral.

In pictures posted to her Instagram, the couple – who met in 2010 and dated for three years – could be seen dressed in all white while posing together in Sri Lanka.

Captioning the throwback images, taken in 2013, she wrote: "My heart aches that I can’t be in Australia tomorrow for Shane’s funeral.

"I was filming last night and, with the time jump, physically can’t get there. These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement – we had all our children with us and it was the happiest time.

"It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone. It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart, with love your Luna."
