EastEnders viewers in tears as they slam ‘terrible mistake’ on BBC soap

EastEnders fans have been left devastated after the show said a final farewell to character Keanu Taylor after he was killed off. Fans took to social media to brand the move a 'mistake' as they expressed their sadness at seeing Danny Walters' role on the show come to an end.

Thursday’s episode of the BBC soap on June 13 showed the funeral of Keanu, who was murdered last Christmas. The official EastEnders account posted one last farewell to the star, stating: "Tonight we said a final farewell to Keanu Taylor. He’ll be hugely missed but not forgotten. Take a look back at some of his most memorable moments on The Square."

Viewers were quick to show their disappointment and sadness over the decision in the comments section, with one person writing: “A terrible mistake to get rid of him.”

"So sad, cried through the epi. Goodbye Keanu, took that long for a funeral. Still can't believe you killed off this amazing character. He was a great actor too, was one of my favourites as well. #EastEnders," added another.

A third chimed in: "He was my favourite character. I’m sad the actor is not coming back and the character is dead." While a fourth added: "Should have never been killed off. Why get rid of actors who are good and gorgeous."

Keanu was killed at Christmas before his body was buried underneath Kathy Beale's café by six of Walford's leading ladies - Kathy herself, Sharon Watts, Denise Fox, Suki Panesar, Stacey Slater, and Linda Carter, Keanu's killer.

His devastated partner Sharon Watts received a horrifying shock when Karen made a surprise return to Albert Square for her son's funeral, furiously warning her to stay away from the event.

The pair continued to argue throughout the episode but with Kat Slater's help, Keanu's grieving mother and partner agreed to a truce for his funeral and mourned together, sharing an emotional hug in the Queen Vic.

Karen decided to confront Dean Wicks as the grieving mother accused him of killing Keanu, which he denied. But Dean did warn her that he reckoned Linda Carter could know more about what happened than she lets on.

Dean told her, "Just ask Linda why she's lying. She's a basket case, you can see it in her eyes. And I think you believe me."
