EastEnders' Jamie Borthwick fuels rumours he’s dating soap co-star with flirty post
EastEnders fan favourite, Jamie Borthwick, 30, who plays Jay Brown in the BBC soap has sparked romance rumours with his co-star just weeks before he’s set to hit the Strictly dance floor.
Jay was seen posing with Jazzy Phoenix, 23, on Instagram, who played Nadine Keller, Jay’s love interest, before her exit earlier this year. Although their love story didn’t last on the soap, the two became close outside the show, often hanging out and appearing on each others social media.
In the latest snap, shared to Jazzy’s page, the pair can be seen playfully posing for a mirror selfie, as Jazzy captioned the post: "The weekly gossip = complete."
On the next slides, they filmed themselves engaging in ‘carpool karaoke’ singing songs from Disney film High School Musical including Start of Something New. Previously, the pair sparked romance rumours as Jazzy rested her head on Jamie's shoulder on an Instagram snap.
In the soap, the duo didn’t have as smooth of a ride, as Lola’s ‘lookalike’ Nadine, who happened to be a sex worker for hire, came back to drop the bombshell she was pregnant with Jay’s baby.
However, she was quickly caught out when it was exposed her baby bump was fake and she admitted she needed money due to being blackmailed.
It’s been a tough time for Jay, as he has been struggling since losing partner Lola to a brain tumour last year.
The pair have appeared to be closed from the start. In September 2023, when she joined the show, Jazzy posted a video with Jamie as they hugged on set, exclaiming: “That’s a wrap!” as fans flooded the comments.
“I’m sorry these two would be such a beautiful couple,” penned one, while another said: “This is the cutest!”
It comes after Jamie has been confirmed as one of the celebrity contestants to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing for their 20th anniversary.
Jamie will be taking part in the reality show alongside celebrity competitors including JLS member JB Gill, TOWIE legend Pete Wicks and former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri.
The EastEnders star, who took part in the Christmas special last year, was the tenth celebrity to be announced in the line up after rumours had been swirling about.
“I had a ball doing the Strictly Christmas special last year, so when I was asked to join for this series it was the easiest yes!” he said on his signing. This is a fresh challenge and it will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say. I’m hoping to be Salsa-ing around Albert Square in no time and I’ll be asking my Walford Strictly alumni for some words of wisdom. See you on the dancefloor!”
