EastEnders fans in hysterics as star makes 'cheeky' comment to dad after hook up

EastEnders' Penny Branning, played by Kitty Castledine, had viewers in stitches after a rather awkward encounter with her dad Jack.

The character made her return to the BBC One soap this year, originally portrayed by Mia McKenna-Bruce back in 2008, but now Kitty has taken on the role. Since returning from France, Penny has stirred up plenty of drama in Walford.

She arrived alongside cousin Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and even ended up planting drugs on her. Despite their rocky start, the pair have since settled into the square. Penny has also taken over Whitney Dean's market stall following the soap icon's departure.

This week, viewers got to see a cheekier side to the character. In Thursday's episode (June 27), which is already available on BBC iPlayer, the new Michell clan arrived, consisting of Teddy and his sons Harry and Barney. It didn't take long for Harry to catch Penny's eye, reports the Daily Star.

After a flirty exchange in the square, they met at the Vic later and ended up going back to Penny's. It was later revealed that the pair had slept together.

The awkwardness ensued when Penny showed Harry out, only for her dad Jack to leave his house next door at the same time. In the cringe-worthy scene, she told him she had to get a man in. Fans couldn't hold back their giggles over the hilariously excruciating moment.

Sharing their thoughts on a Reddit thread, one viewer observed: "I liked Penny and Harry and also Jack's reaction when he realised Penny had a mid day hook up was priceless."

Another chimed in: "She's a Branning, what's new." Another mentioned: "Needed some pipes clearing - flipping heck." A third jokingly wrote: "Said to her own dad n all (who ain't daft when it comes to sexual euphemisms)...." Yet another posted: "Couldn't help but laugh!."

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
