E.T.'s animatronic head among iconic Sci-Fi artifacts up for auction

An animatronic head used in E.T. The Extra Terrestrial is expected to sell for as much as $1 million (£800,000) at auction next month.

The iconic movie prop head is made by the legendary Carlo Rambaldi and can be seen throughout Steven Spielberg's movie.

It is part of Julien's Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) initial lineup of over 1,000 renowned pop culture artifacts set to be auctioned in their Hollywood Legends end-of-year event.

This year-end auction will occur live on Thursday, December 14th, Friday, December 15th, Saturday, December 16th, and Sunday, December 17th in Beverly Hills and online at julienslive.com.

The four-day Hollywood spectacular begins with the Robots, Wizards, Heroes & Aliens: Contemporary Hollywood Auction presentation on day one and two.

The showcase features props, costumes, models, memorabilia, and more from iconic characters of film and television's popular science fiction, fantasy, action, and superhero franchises spanning from the 1950s to modern classics.

These include the E.T. head, Michael Keaton's Batman suit, and the Nostromo computer console from Alien.

TCM and Julien's previously sold a full E.T. animatronic model for over $2.5 million (£2 million).
