This is Dulux's Colour of the Year 2025...
Dulux has unveiled 'True Joy' as its Colour of the Year 2025 — an energising and happy hue.
Designed to spark inspiration and instill confidence, True Joy has been chosen by leading designers, architects, editors and thought leaders for its 'optimism, pride and vibrancy'.
Whether you're painting a whole room or considering a feel-good feature wall, Dulux wants True Joy to inspire households to make a joyful leap into the colour yellow.
Bringing the sunshine inside on cold and cloudy days, it's no surprise to see that Google searches for "sunny yellow paint" have increased by 250% in the UK over the past year.
"Whilst yellow is one of the bolder colours on the spectrum, True Joy™ is complementary to a vast range of palettes, it brings out the positivity in even the most neutral of shades and is the figurative glue that binds more daring colour stories together," says Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director and Colour Expert at Dulux.
"The meaning behind the colour's choice is so impactful. The sheer bliss the colour exudes physically pushes us to create something better for ourselves; it allows us to put the past behind us and gives us the inspiration we need to forge a future for our proudest, most confident selves. Put simply, True Joy™ is a call to action."
If you're not brave enough to embrace an all-over yellow look, you could tap into the colour with accessories or by simply painting a piece of furniture.
For this year's Colour of the Year, Dulux has partnered with charity YoungMinds to raise awareness of their mental health resources – and what better way to spread joy than with a bright, happy colour.
"We're delighted to have the support from Dulux to coincide with the launch of its Colour of the Year, True Joy™, and shine a light on the importance of young people's mental health, says Tom Madders, Director of Communications and Campaigns at YoungMinds.
"Yellow itself is a colour integral to YoungMinds with our Hello Yellow fundraising initiative on World Mental Health Day, which invites people to wear yellow to show young people they're not alone with their mental health."
