Did Sarah Jessica Parker Just Style A Denim Maxi Skirt Over Another Denim Maxi Skirt?
Filming of And Just Like That season three is underway, meaning there’s been an inevitable drip-drip of no context paparazzi shots (choose your own plot line, people). The latest of which reveals that Carrie Bradshaw has got a new love interest: denim.
If you’re thinking 'dull' – isn’t denim is a bit too normy for Manhattan’s favourite peacock? What’s the woman who’s worn a bird in her hair, a belt around her bare waist and a dirndl to the park in jeans? Well, fear not, because Parker's AJLT costume department gave it a suitably Bradshaw spin.

What the AJLT take on denim doesn't look like is blue jeans and a T-shirt. Instead, when Parker was photographed on the final day of shooting the upcoming seasons, she was seen wearing a full, button-through mid-wash denim maxi skirt with patch pockets.
The skirt was worn mostly unbuttoned, seemingly layered on top of another skirt (dress?), to create that voluminous proportion that is an SJP signature. It was paired with a jumbo clutch, a nipped-in wool jacket and a trailing scarf-cum-shawl.
But it was the flash of what was under the skirt that really made it a Carrie look: pointelle knee-high socks and sandals. Just like jeans, the denim skirt can be the perfect blank canvas for adding idiosyncratic flourishes of personal taste.
It’s not the only time Carrie has been seen in a denim skirt in season three. Earlier this summer she was spotted wearing a puff-hipped, bustle-fronted denim pencil skirt by Maison Margiela. That time she coordinated with two scene-stealing accessories: a copy of Sally Rooney’s Intermezzo (before it was released; big baller move!) and her cat (‘played’ by Parker’s own cat, Lotus).
Other Carrie denim teases for the series three? A blazer worn with a printed jumpsuit, a pair of paint-splattered dungarees teamed (naturally) with heels, and an off the shoulder black denim top buddied up with cropped cargo pants.
Carrie is not the only character in the And Just Like That universe leaning into denim’s posh potential; shots of Kristin Davis’s Charlotte reveal that she too has a soft spot for it, wearing a belted wrap dress. Considering how daunting it can be to shop for jeans, this seems like a people-pleasing alternative.
