Dermot O'Leary celebrated turning 50 this week and shared details of how he spent his very special day with fans on social media.

The TV presenter posted a picture of himself holding balloons in a very lush and green garden, and revealed he had enjoyed a very wholesome and indulgent day so far with a wild swim and a hearty steak. Sounds heavenly.

Dermot wrote: "Thanks a million for all the lovely messages. Wild swim, brunch, walk, steak. 50… not so bad so far. Dx."

Friends and fans were quick to point out how youthful Dermot looks, with one commenting: "50? I don't believe it sorry! Hope you had a great birthday love!"

Another added: "They got the numbers wrong surely! Happy birthday."

Dermot, who has a three-year-old son with wife Dee Koppang, had been co-hosting This Morning earlier this week with Alison Hammond, but has taken a few days off to mark his birthday.

This Morning wished Dermot a Happy Birthday with a montage of photos of him co-hosting the ITV show with Alison.

Meanwhile, Dermot was also celebrating the upcoming release of his latest children's book, Wings of Glory, which will be out later this year. Dermot is also author to a series of children's books called Toto, The Ninja Cat.

Sharing a picture of the cover on Instagram, Dermot added the caption: "Hello, I’m beyond excited to share the news of my new children's book WINGS OF GLORY. It’s set in 1940 during the Battle of Britain and it follows the story of Linus the swift who has joined the Royal Bird Force to help the war effort. But soon they discover there’s a spy among their ranks who is trying to take them down...

"It’s a tale of courage, adventure and a smattering of bird poo and I can’t wait for you to read it! It’s perfect for readers aged 8 and up and will be packed with illustrations by the incredible @misspowellposts. It’s coming out on 14th September and you can pre-order it at the link in my bio!"

Many Happy Returns, Dermot!
