Death in Paradise star Joséphine Jobert teases Florence crossover in Beyond Paradise

Death in Paradise may have said goodbye to DS Florence Cassell halfway through last year's series 11, but that doesn't mean we won't get to see her again.

In fact, actress Joséphine Jobert has revealed that she has been in discussions about coming back for spin-off Beyond Paradise.

In a Q&A with fans on her Instagram Stories, Jobert was asked if she's making a comeback, and she replied: "It's not officially planned yet, but it's a possibility that we discussed with the producer some time ago.

"So we’ll see if that will happen. But I would love to anyway. It would be a very nice wink."

Series 1 of Beyond Paradise wrapped up last week, but the BBC has confirmed that it is getting both a second series and a Christmas special, so there's plenty of chance for Florence to come back.

"We’ve been blown away by the audience response to the show and are so happy that people have taken it to their hearts," executive producer Tim Key said.

"We can’t wait to get our amazing cast back together to continue the story – and to be able to pay a visit to Shipton Abbott at Christmas is even better."

Now that the spin-off is well established, we wonder if the show will ever follow through on Kris Marshall's idea of having all four main detectives coming together for a crossover case (despite one of them being dead).

"I'd love to bring them all back, really, for different reasons! I had such a wonderful time," he said. "I think it'd be awesome to have all four detectives in one show or one episode together, as a meta thing where their worlds collide."

Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
