David Tennant reveals injury he got while filming Rivals sex scene
Are you ready to get raucous? Because Rivals, the adaptation of Jilly Cooper's best-selling novel, is finally landing on Disney+, and it's safe to say debauchery is about to unfold. So much so, in fact, that David Tennant has revealed the on-screen injury he received during a particularly enthusiastic sex scene.
The eight-part series follows the fierce rivalry between TV station controller Tony Baddingham (played by David Tennant) and former Olympic horse-rider and Conservative MP Rupert Campbell-Black (played by Alex Hassell), who are both tousling for the spotlight.
Set against a backdrop of the late 1980s, expect full on glamour - big hair, even bigger shirt collars and spray tans your summer holiday could only dream of. Oh, and lots of sex.
In fact, in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan UK, 53-year-old David revealed he inflicted an injury on himself on two occasions on set - one of which was during an intimate scene.
"My knee I smashed up diving onto a bed, to indulge in some sexual ecstasy," he revealed while chatting about the new show. "Not good timing. Smashed my knee.
"And then I cut my arm open in a scene that was very violent. Spoilers - I don't want to say too much more than that. But I did it to myself."
Now this we can't wait to see.
All eight episodes of Rivals land on Disney+ on 18th October 2024, perfect for your weekend binge-watching. Maybe just not one for family viewing by the sounds of it, eh?
