Monday was actress Dakota Johnson's birthday, and many fans celebrated by re-sharing her viral 2019 interview with Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show. The Ellen DeGeneres Show is currently in its 19th and final season after allegations about abuse and harassment on set came to light during the summer of 2020. Ratings dipped significantly, and advertisers pulled out after stories started circulating about how awful the behind-the-scenes environment supposedly was.

Though the interview between Johnson and DeGeneres took place more than six months before this upheaval, a lot of people joked it was the beginning of the show's downfall. In the viral clip, DeGeneres asks Johnson about her 30th birthday, then quips, 'How was the party, I wasn't invited.'

Instead of joking along, Johnson contradicts her and replies, 'Actually, no. That's not the truth, Ellen.'

Johnson continues, 'Last time I was on the show last year, you gave me a bunch of shit about not inviting you, but I didn't even know you wanted to be invited. I didn't even know you liked me.'

DeGeneres looks genuinely shocked after she's called out and responds, 'Of course I like you. You knew I liked you! You've been on the show many times and don't I show like?'

Johnson won't back down and continues, 'I did invite you and you didn't come...ask everybody.'

Johnson looks to the show's producers, who agree that DeGeneres was indeed invited.

On Thursday, Johnson appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show and Drew Barrymore brought up the moment when she confronted DeGeneres.

'People have gotten in trouble for claiming not being invited to your parties,' Barrymore jokes, and the audience responds effusively. 'That was amazing, by the way... Like, amazing.'

All Johnson really does in response is laugh and smile, which says a lot about how she sees the situation now. Watch below:
