Daisy Edgar-Jones Shares Her Two Cents On Returning To ‘Normal People’

It's the role that made her a household name, and Daisy Edgar-Jones has now confirmed that, should the rumoured sequel of the beloved serialisation of Normal People ever come to fruition, she'd love to be a part of it.

Speaking to BBC News ahead of the release of her latest project Twisters, the actor said, 'I love those characters. It would be wonderful to explore them again.'

The star, who portrayed Marianne Sheridan in the hit BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney's bestselling novel of the same name, also expressed her appreciation for the role in a July 13 interview with The Times' Culture magazine. 'It’s still Normal People I am known for. It meant a lot to people and a lot to me too.'

She continued, 'I feel 100% spoilt by Normal People. If you could bottle up my ideal role, world, film-maker, writer, it had everything. In any career you get some jobs that are truly magical and, yes, then you’re seeking that feeling again. It’s hard to top that.'

Rumours of a sequel to the series, which also starred Paul Mescal as Connell, have circulated since the first season launched to rapturous applause in 2020 during the pandemic. The rumblings reached fever pitch on May 28, when Edgar-Jones shared an image of her and her co-star, Mescal, with the caption, 'We’ve got some news to share!! Watch this space ❤️'.

Fans of the hit series interpreted the pair's pose in the selfie (both of them were holding up two fingers) as a sign that they were hinting towards a sophomore season, before revealing a matter of days later that they were merely set to host a marathon screening of Normal People in June.
