Iconic Coronation Street star unrecognisable - can you guess who it is?
This relaxed looking lady enjoying a drink and staring wistfully into the distance doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. And with her short hair and stylish glasses, she seems a sophisticated girl as well. Well, the same certainly can’t be said for the permanently harassed and fashion-challenged character this actress plays on the nation’s best-loved soap.
This is Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose Campbell looking a million miles away from run-off-her-feet mum Gemma Winter-Brown. With Gemma looking after the quads – Bryn, Cleo, Carys, and Aled – as well as hubby Chesney’s son Joseph, while also doing shifts in the Rovers, she rarely has a moment to herself, but Dolly-Rose appears to be enjoying just that in this lovely pic she posted online.
On Corrie, Gemma is famous for her bold fashion sense and love of colour, off-screen Dolly goes for a calmer look. But the big change in the new picture is Dolly’s hair, the 37-year-old actress seeming to have had her previously mid-length hair, which she normally wears straight as Gemma, into a shorter style, embracing her natural curl.

Fans and friends were quick to complement Dolly on her new look. Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Dolly-Rose’s on-screen mum, Bernie, commented, “Beautiful woman”. Emmerdale star Ash Palmisciano (Matty Barton) added, “Love your hair” with two hand clap emojis.
Meanwhile, Alexandra Mardell, who played Steve McDonald’s daughter Emma Brooker, raved: “Loooooove!! Miss yewwww curly girlie” followed by a heart emoji.
On-screen, Dolly-Rose has seen Gemma has a tough time of late. Gemma is dealing with her grief at the loss of her brother, Paul Foreman, who passed away from Motor Neurone Disease last month. Meanwhile, the pressure of raising her supersize family always adds to Gemma’s troubles. Has Gemma decided a new look might give her a fresh slate and gone for the chop?
This year, Dolly-Rose is celebrating a decade playing Gemma. She first appeared in 2014 in a small role as a sidekick to drug dealer Callum Logan, but producers soon saw her potential and bumped her up to a full-time role.
Fast forward a decade and Gemma has settled into Weatherfield life and is a firm favourite with Street viewers.
Off screen, Dolly tends to keep her private life private. Dolly passes her off-screen time with one of her beloved hobbies: knitting. She has even been seen crafting away on set. She loves spending time at home with her dog, who has made regular appearances on her Instagram.
In 2019, the Corrie star revealed she is bisexual. "I have always been supported by my friends and family – for people who are struggling, I would always say people who mind don't matter, people who matter don't mind,” she said at the time.
