Dairy Queen's free cone day is returning in 2025: How to get free ice cream in March

Spring may still be a few weeks away, but Dairy Queen is ready for the warmer weather with its free cone day returning this month.

The fast-food ice cream and burger chain this week announced it will once again offer a free ice cream cone to its customers in March for one day only.

"Did someone say Free Cone Day?! Now that’s a day we can all get behind!" the business said on its website. "Kick off treat season with a complimentary DQ small vanilla cone."

"We love it so much, we might just declare it a national holiday!" it added.

When is Dairy Queen Free Cone Day 2025?

Free Cone Day will take place at participating restaurants nationwide on March 20, the first day of spring.

"As spring blooms appear and longer, sunnier days lie ahead, Dairy Queen is starting off the season sweeter than ever," the company said.

How to get a free Dairy Queen ice cream cone

Dairy Queen customers can get one free small vanilla soft-serve cone "featuring the iconic DQ curl on top" at participating DQ locations nationwide.

The treat is limited to one cone per person while supplies last, DQ said.

Visit DairyQueen.com or download the DQ mobile app to find the nearest DQ restaurant.

Free cones for a year

This year DQ is counting down to free cone day by giving fans the chance to win free cones for a year.

"No holiday is complete without a special treat and DQ is helping fans countdown to Free Cone Day in a big way," DQ said. "Now through March 19, fans can download the DQ App and sign up for DQ Rewards to enter for a chance to win Free Cones for a Year!"

The sweepstakes is open to all U.S. residents except Texas, DQ said.
