How to create a pumpkin flower vase for Halloween

Looking for stunning autumn table centrepiece ideas? Revamp your Halloween décor by creating your very own pumpkin vase filled with fresh flowers. As well as putting pumpkins to good use, it's a pretty project that's incredibly easy to try at home.

"Pumpkin vases are a fun autumnal alternative to a classic vase,"Amelia Christoffers, floral stylist at Bloom & Wild says. "For a classy and minimalist twist, use a white pumpkin variety or paint your pumpkin."

How to make a pumpkin vase

What you will need:

  • One large pumpkin

  • A knife for carving

  • A spoon

  • Fresh or dried flowers

  • Wet floral foam (optional)

Step one: Firstly, cut out the stem of your pumpkin and create a big enough opening to fit your flowers. Choose a large pumpkin if you want to create a stellar display packed with blooms.

Step two: Scoop out the insides of the pumpkins. To avoid waste, keep the flesh and turn it into a delicious pumpkin soup.

Step three: Fill the pumpkin with water or add the wet floral foam if you are using this. To keep your flowers fresh for longer, change the water every few days.

Step four: Now the fun part! Arrange your flowers as you wish, playing around with different variations. To keep it autumnal, opt for red and yellow blooms, paired with foliage and eucalyptus. Once it's finished, place it on your coffee table or outside the front door to wow neighbours.
