Shining Vale's second season officially hits US network Starz and Lionsgate+ for UK fans on October 13. According to Deadline, episodes will drop weekly on Fridays at midnight from then on.

Once again led by Courteney Cox (Friends) and Greg Kinnear (House of Cards), season 2 of this horror-comedy picks up where we left off with couple Pat and Terry Phelps as they struggle to reconnect their fractured family, while dealing with mental health, the menopause and ghoulish shenanigans.

Reacting to Shining Vale's renewal, co-creator Jeff Astrof said: "Sharon [Horgan] and I are thrilled to be able to tell the next eight chapters of the Phelps' story – especially after the way we ended season 1. Personally, I look forward to the crushing pressure of trying to raise the bar even further in season 2. But we can do anything. After all: 'We are Phelps!'"

Starz's president of original programming Kathryn Busby added: "Shining Vale is both wickedly funny and a beautiful three-dimensional portrayal of marriage, adolescent parenting and motherhood. We're thrilled to bring viewers another season of this mic-dropping blend of horror and comedy."

Meanwhile, Cox's friend Lisa Kudrow was instrumental in her taking on the character of Pat. Astrof confirmed as much during a chat with Entertainment Weekly, where he recalled Kudrow passing over the script to her Friends colleague.

"Courteney called me and said: 'This script is the only thing that's ever been written for me'," he said. "'I want to do it. I have to do it.'"

Shining Vale season 2 premieres October 13 on Starz in the US, while UK streamers can find it over on Lionsgate+.
